Anyone that knows me knows that I have a slight obsession with Alice In Wonderland.

I have been working on making my bedroom a Wonderland and have found it difficult to find things I like and when I do they are mega expensive.

So I decided to have a go at making some decor pieces myself using cheap/recycled materials.

This is a simple how to guide to make this beautiful Alice In Wonderland inspired jar which can house flowers, makeup brushes or anything you can think of.

I have used Alice In Wonderland as my inspiration but you can use any theme or design for inspiration on your project, the fundamentals stay the same.

So here is the finished product and the steps to making this project.

Step 1.

Gather your materials. For this project I am using:

A Jar (I am using a sauce jar washed and label removed)

Mod Podge (any kind you prefer but here is a guide to finishes)

Napkin/s (any sort you fancy I got mine here)

Scissors

Paint brush

Step 2.

Using your scissors cut out the desired shapes from your napkin. This can be fiddly and if you have a tool such as an Exacto knife or similar this would be the time to use it.

Step 3.

I sometimes remove the back piece of the napkin to make it easier to work with. Some napkins have 2-5 ply/layers so the thicker it is the more I would recommend separating to use just the top layer.

Step 4.

Glue the back of the napkin shape with your mod podge then place it on the surface of the jar where you would like it.

Tip: Play around with the shape prior to glueing the back to make sure you know where you would like it as it is fragile and may break up if you move it once it is glued to the jar.

Step 5.

Begin to brush the mod podge over the shape on the jar. Not pushing down hard to avoid ripping or bubbling the surface of the napkin.

Tip: Brush from the center to avoid ripping and bubbling.

Step 6.

If required cut out more shapes from the napkin/s and follow the same steps to adhere them to the jar.

Step 7.

Now leave to dry for approx 1 hour (please read the recommended time on your chosen adhesive)

Step 8.

Check dry then use your beautiful decoupaged jar however you wish, this is how I used mine....
